Formed in 2015 and disbanded in 2022, then finally revived after four years of silence, the standard-bearer of Japanesque Metal, "Rakshasa." Their long-awaited EP "Yushuroku - Susanoo," the signal fire of Rakshasa's revival, depicts four tales rooted in Japanese culture as it shifts from ancient Japan to the Taisho era. It opens with the instrumental "Ashihara ni Fuku Kaze," which evokes the eternity of the age of the gods, led by the tone of the shamisen; then the wild, fierce, and at times beautiful speed number "Susanoo"; followed by the melodic yet somehow shadowed fine piece "Yashagaike"; and, in a complete change, the pop and bittersweet ballad "Koibumi." This collection of gem-like songs conveys the band's charm and its many facets, and is a work worthy of raising expectations as the prologue to a new tale.
