At the time, a live performance featuring only acoustic guitars was extremely rare, and upon its initial release in 1981, it became one of the most talked-about masterpieces of the 20th century. Al Di Meola, who gained early recognition as a member of Return to Forever; John McLaughlin, who played a key role during Miles Davis's electric period and was influenced by Indian music and flamenco; and Paco de Lucia, the legendary master of flamenco guitar, deliver a breathtaking display of virtuosic guitar interplay, filled with overwhelming intensity and a vivid sense of immediacy.
