An impressive, special fx laden fantasy was released theatrically in 1966, followed by two sequels in the same year. The story about a giant rock statue 'god' coming to life to save the oppressed people of a town was based on an ancient Japanese mythology. Though film has more often been described as a fantasy, it's also been described as "Godzilla meets Seven Samurais." The stomping actions of this film may possibly be the most horrifying.
