More than half a century later, the origin of the legend of "Golgo 13" is revived on Blu-ray. This Blu-ray fully collects all 40 episodes, 130 stories, of the first anime adaptation of the masterpiece gekiga "Golgo 13", which had been considered a phantom because the original film elements were missing, and makes its long awaited debut on home video. Color was applied by hand to the original gekiga artwork and it was shot on film to create a unique visual world through "still animation". This valuable visual work, in which the passion and ingenuity of original author Takao Saito are condensed, now shines again with the same impact as when it first aired. Once he accepts a job, he always completes it, no matter what difficulties stand in his way. The story depicts the exploits of "Golgo 13", a top class sniper whose name is known to intelligence agencies around the world. This work, the first anime based on manga artist Takao Saito's signature series "Golgo 13", is a valuable production made with the "still animation" technique, in which color is applied by hand to the gekiga artwork and it is shot on film. After its broadcast in 1971, the film was long missing, but the reels were discovered in 2023, the fifty fifth anniversary of the "Golgo 13" serialization, and became a major topic. This release completely collects the legendary anime in all 40 episodes, 130 stories, and makes it available on home video for the first time.
