Hall & Oates created many hits and few compilations are still active - but this 12" treasure is available only in Japan (for now). It's worth every yen. Remastered with love & care - including booklet with lyrics. It's collector's heaven. Only bad point is cover - but that's irrelevant when you have such great mixes. Don't forget Vol 2 also available only in Japan.

I am a fan of remixes and alternate versions, but sometimes, you should just leave a classic alone. Most of the mixes are extensions of the original versions with a different mix. However, the one track that is still hard to take is the Hoax Mix of "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)." I do like club music and dance tracks, but the tempo is just too fast and the effects too out of place for this classic. As far as remixes go, the Ben Liebrand Remix of this song is much better, which is found on Vol. 2 of this series. Overall, this collection is very danceable, with a few exceptions; and it allows you to experience some wonderful compositions from this duo. This CD is the perfect addition to collectors of remixes and of the music of Hall and Oates.

I still remember the vinyl 12" I still got in my vinyl storage room. And I remember the first time I layed my eyes on this compilation. And frankly as a Hall & Oates fan I couldn't resist to buy this one... So I bought even the Volume 2 to complete my collection to get them all. I give it 4... because you have to own them both to have a 5 points. =)
