Oldfield, a small town in Tennessee. Beth, a reporter investigating a certain incident, visits local historian Julian White. He tells her that behind the incident lies an evil force rooted in the town itself, and begins to unravel four stories from the past. A young man performing strange acts in a traveling freak show, and a girl who falls in love with him. And soldiers who arrive at a farmhouse where children live, in the midst of the Civil War. Where do these encounters all lead? As Beth listens to the old man s stories, she delves deeper into the dark secrets hidden within the town s history.
