Description

[Machine Translation] Chansons began to be sung in Japan before World War II, and it is said that Noriko Awatani was the first Japanese chanson singer. Noriko Awatani has a strong image as the "Queen of the Blues," but at the same time, she was one of the first to record works popular overseas at the time in Japanese and spread them throughout the world. Many Japanese chanson singers, starting with Noriko Awatani, have released records on Columbia, including Fubuki Koshiji, whose 100th anniversary will be celebrated in 2024, who first recorded "Ai no Hymn" 70 years ago, and Akihiro Miwa, who made his Columbia debut with "Mekemeke". There are also chanson singers still active today, such as Kumiko and Hidemi Sasaki. This compilation album features chansons by these artists. Also included as a bonus track is a new recording by Yona, a newcomer who is currently attracting attention in the chanson world.
