Description

[Machine Translation] One condemned prisoner escapes, or the wind blows where it wishes. A masterpiece by the great filmmaker Bresson, who depicts with breathtaking poetic tension the entire film about a condemned prisoner on death row who is determined to escape from prison in pursuit of freedom. Winner of the Best Director Award at the 1957 Cannes Film Festival. -Lyon, 1943. Fontaine (F. Letelier), a French lieutenant captured by the Nazis, attempts to escape by opening the door of a car on his way to prison, but fails and is placed in a cell in Montluc prison in handcuffs. In the few moments he has to throw away his filth and wash his face, he exchanges information with the other prisoners. He observes the planks of the cell door and thinks that he might be able to cut away the seams. Luckily, Fontaine obtains an iron spoon and chisels it by shaving the handle on the cell floor...
