Majokko Tickle, a 1979 series created by the genius Go Nagai. The series is about a girl, Tiko who releases a witch trapped in a book. The witch is Tickle, who was trapped for playing pranks on humans. She poses as Tiko's twin sister. Tickle was created years after the big "mahou shoujo" boom. (i.e. during the creation of the genre) So it in'st as well known as previous series. Tickle is also different from other magical girls, due to her look. She has a more "cheeky" and "naughty" look that witches like Sally, and Megu lacked. The series is also very kid friendly, and targetted a very young audiance. The series deals with lots of issues facing younger children. Such as kids being picked on because of looks, or weight problems. Despite the fact it's created by Go Nagai, there's not much adult humor here. No ecchi jokes, or any nudity. So you're typical Go Nagai fan may not like this. My advice is, only buy this series if you're a huge mahou shoujo fan. Otherwise, I suggest buying Cutie Honey, Sally the Witch, or Majokko Megu. It's a fun series, but it's not for everyone.

Customer Reviews
Chieko is a 5th grade girl who just lost her best friend; Chikkuru is a magical princess on the run from a dragon. They met when Chieko's father gives her a magical book, and now Chikkuru is Chieko's "new" twin sister. But being part of a family is a new experience for Chikkuru, and magic can't solve problems she doesn't understand. This show is all about Family values. Although many recent anime have parents who aren't involved at all, the characters in _Majokko Chikkuru_ all have family that play a major role in their lives, and that role is often the keynote of a particular episode. This added dimension to the characters makes them seem more realistic. Mixed in with the character-driven drama is comedy based on reversal of expectations, since Chikkuru comes from a different world, and has her own ways of doing things. -Galen
