Description

DVD release of Masahiro Kobayashi film "Wakaranai: Where Are You?," which premiered earlier this summer at 2009 Locarno International Film Festival. The film was done in a documentary-like fashion. The story revolves around a boy named Ryo who grows up in a fatherless family. Worst of all, his mother dies of disease but he is unable to afford the hospital and funeral expenses. Not only that, he has to deal in reality that he falls into poverty and needs to earn a living by himself. . .

第62回ロカルノ国際映画祭コンペティション部門正式出品作品。世界が注目する小林政広監督が渾身の思いを込めて描く、21世紀の日本版『大人は判ってくれない』。――これまで、『バッシング』で女性から見た日本を、『愛の予感』で親から見た日本を描き、世界の映画祭で高い評価を受けてきた小林監督。本作『ワカラナイ』では、少年から見た現代(いま)の日本を描く。母子家庭の少年「亮」は、母親を病気で亡くし、医療費も葬儀代も払えなくなる。そして自分自身を食べさせる事さえ困難な貧困の中を、生きていくしかない現実と向き合う。ただ普通に生きていくことすら、難しい。カメラはそんな少年の行動の全てを観察するように、そして時には見守るように、ドキュメンタリー映画のような距離を保ちながらとらえていく。閉塞感と孤独感にさいなまれる少年「亮」を演じるのは、本作が初主演となる17歳の新人俳優、小林優斗。
