I was pleasantly surprised by the sonic upgrade versus the equivalent standard cd release. The sound is a little more laid back (less digital sounding) and there is greater detail. Although rather expensive, I am very pleased. I have the SACD version of the first Boston album and I think it's pretty good compared to the red book. However, I suspect the blu-spec version will be winding its way into my collection (I actually think it may be a close call). Anyway, a worthy upgrade and a bigger difference than the SHM-CDs. I will buy more of these Blu-Specs and I would certainly buy the Kansas back catalogue if they were reissued!

After years of less than honest so called "re-mastering" , promises of better sound just to sell re-packaged CDs , SONY , has realized that you have to give people the goods. BLU-SPEC , is SONY's , answer to the very popular , SHM-CDs. This 2006 TOM SCHOLZ re-master [BLU-SPEC] finally gets the sound of this album right. As with SHM-CDs , the technology is very similar and so is the clear , clean sound. This album has never sounded this great , ever. As with SHM-CDs , it is well worth the price. I can't wait to hear BOSTON's first album [BLU-SPEC CD] out in mid- January , 2009. Now SONY , should finally have BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN , re-issued in BLU-SPEC instead of a seemingly endless re-issue rip-offs of BRUCE's , early catalog. SONY's SACDs are on the way out and they know it. It is about time that SONY , got with the program in a major way.
