This release captures the band at the height of their US tour supporting the “Islands” album. The Detroit show stands out for its fierce, almost garage-like rock energy. Due to onstage equipment challenges, the musicians perform with maximum aggression, pushing progressive rock into heavy, funky blues territory. Mel Collins’ unhinged saxophone work on “Cirkus” and the massive improvisational jam on “Groon” sound monumental. Even with minor archival tape flaws, it remains an essential piece of progressive rock history.

Description
[Machine Translation] In 2019, King Crimson will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its debut. 50th anniversary project introducing classic and rare recordings from The King Crimson Collector's Club, which has a vast collection of recordings from its debut in 1969 to the present day! This day only! Blues Rock Version ( Palace of the Crimson King ) ! The Detroit show, where the audience was rougher than the US tour when the album "Islands" was completed but not yet released in the US. (The band was irritated by the audience's insistence on past songs such as "Epitaph" and "Palace". The band played well, but the encore was famous for being the only time in their history that an incident occurred. The band has been released as a stand-alone box set in the past, but it has been difficult to obtain. This is a reissue in response to requests for a chance to hear it. The sound is in soundboard. The set included songs from "Islands" and some from the "Palace" era, but the audience in Detroit was dissatisfied with the set, and a confrontation ensued. The performance was solid, but there was too much demand to play songs from the past, and Fripp himself sent a message to the audience, but the situation was not resolved. This was the only time in the band's 50-year history that it became an extremely rare soundtrack. ( 2CD reissue )
