This release is a standout historical document capturing the early phase of the “Larks' Tongues in Aspic” live evolution. The Guildford performance catches the legendary quintet testing their intricate new material before a live audience. The deliveries of “Larks' Tongues... Part I” and an early incarnation of “Book of Saturday” are breathtaking in their raw, primitive power. The core highlight is Jamie Muir’s unhinged percussion wizardry, injecting a wild, ritualistic edge into the sonic spectrum.

Description
[Machine Translation] King Crimson will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its debut in 2019. 50th anniversary project introducing classic and rare sound sources from The King Crimson Collector's Club, which has a vast collection of sound sources from its debut in 1969 to the present day! Rare soundboard recordings from King Crimson's first UK tour! ZOOM About a month after the warm-up gig at the club. In preparation for the album, Crimson toured the UK nonstop until December 15th in Portsmouth to polish the new songs live. This is one of the most rare soundboard recordings from the tour. Unfortunately, only the first half of the show is available due to the open-reel recording, but it is the best quality live recording of Sun & Shiver Crimson in 1972. Although the arrangements are much more solidified than at the ZOOM club, you can still find many parts here and there that are different from the finished version, which is a unique feature of early recordings. (The coda of ("Sun and Fear Part 1") was not completed yet, and it is in a medley format with ("Saturday's Book"), which was only released during this period. The highlight is the improvisation ("All That Glitters Is Not Nail Polish"), which is over 25 minutes long. The intense funk type improvisation is a masterpiece!
