有為子よ死ね! 金閣よ燃えろ! 滅びの美学と官能に彩られた三島文学の金字塔―。1950年の金閣寺放火事件を題材とした三島由紀夫の名作「金閣寺」の映画化!! 「金閣寺と心中するつもりだった」と後に述べた学生による放火事件を題材にとった小説「金閣寺」は、三島由紀夫の自伝をふくめた力作である、という見方もされている。ある意味、三島の衝撃的な最期を予告していた、とさえ言われている。そして、高林陽一監督は、製作後記でこう述べている。――『餓鬼草紙』『悲歌』と、余生を送るに相応の遺書めいた作品を作りながら、私は知らず知らず「金閣寺」を目ざしていたのだろうか。だとすればそれは、まさに三島由紀夫氏の、あの「死」を見た瞬間から始まった潜在的思考であったに違いない。――高林陽一、平成二十四年没。享年八十一。 ――幼い頃より吃音に悩まされて、暗い青春時代を送っている青年・溝口。彼は「金閣寺」を知ったときから、美の象徴として憧れを抱くようになる。大学で友人の誘いに乗り出会う女性たちと関係を持とうとするが、常にあたまに浮かび上がる金閣寺の幻影が支障となりうまくいかない。ついには金閣寺を征服するという意識を持つようになり・・・。
