72年作品。結成当時からの中心人物であったドラムのロバート・ワイアットが脱退し、新たな編成による最初の作品。ワイアットから代わったフィル・ハワードが参加しての1～3(LPでのA面)そしてハワードに代わってジョン・マーシャルが参加しての4～6(LPでのB面)という変則的な内容の作品。今作の特徴は、エルトン・ディーンのサックスがフィーチャーされ、ソフト・マシーンの作品の中で最もジャズ寄りに仕上がっている点。加えて、4曲提供しているマイク・ラトリッジのキーボードも印象的。ロック色をベースにしながらも、確かな演奏によりフリー・ジャズ的アプローチをみせた傑作。今回のCD化においては未発表だった「オール・ホワイト」の別テイクを追加。 2006年デジタルリマスター、アド袋付、紙ジャケット仕様。
