Animation STEAMBOY Storyboards 2 (OTOMO THE COMPLET)

The theatrical feature film "Steamboy," released in 2004, is an animated work created, scripted, and directed by Otomo Katsuhiro as his first feature-length anime since "Akira"; this book is the second of the two-volume compilation of the huge number of storyboards drawn by Otomo himself over the 10 years from concept to release; at the time of the film's release, the Young Magazine editorial department published a single-volume "Steamboy Storyboard Collection," which later became a premium book; this edition splits it into two volumes and newly reprints it in the enlarged Otomo Complete Works size instead of the original A5; in addition to all of parts D, E1, and E2 (the latter half of the work consisting of six parts A, B, C, D, E1, E2), it includes alternate-version and pilot-film storyboards, plus about 60 pages of previously unpublished underdrawings, bringing this volume close to 500 pages; the latest commentary by the author is included at the end; as seen in the previous volume and the "Akira" storyboard collection, the author's storyboards are not rough but extremely detailed and information-rich, standing alone as works that can be appreciated as reading material; this book is both a resource that reveals the structure of the animation "Steamboy" and, as a paper book, another main part of "Steamboy" to read.
