This marks their first collaboration since "Gaia," a track featured on Nariaki Obukuro's 2019 album *Piercing*. Seven years have passed since their first collaboration. In 2025, Akiaki Obukuro released *Zatto* and 5lack released *Hanari Mai*. Having each deepened their artistic expression and established their own unique aesthetics through their respective careers, the two have now come together again after all this time.

Work on this project began in preparation for the "Gaia" two-man live show scheduled for August 1, 2026. Although they initially envisioned an EP containing just a few tracks, the ideas they brought to the table naturally expanded, ultimately evolving into a full-length album featuring eight tracks.

Production of the lead track, "Ichigara," began with a beat idea that Shigeaki Kobukuro had been nurturing for several years. Through several rounds of collaboration, the two developed a shared groove, and from there, the entire album was completed in just about three months. From "Kagyo"-which pays homage to late-'90s hip-hop while taking unpredictable turns-to "Hyo-yu," which evokes early-2000s R & B, the collection of tracks reflects the duo's musical backgrounds and offers a fresh sound to today's listeners.

Their approach-handling everything from beat production to mixing, not just singing and rapping-is imbued with a pure curiosity for music that transcends genres and eras. *Ichijara* is a special work born from these two artists, who have each pursued their own forms of expression, coming together once again to create music in the same space. Additionally, Shoko Katakura (piano) and Kazuki Isogai (guitar), members of Shigeaki Kobukuro's band, participated in the recording. 5lack handled the mixing, and PHONON president Isao Kumano handled the mastering.
