For Miyazawa, who was born in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, and who was familiar with fishing, "Kiso," "Asama," "Hakuba," and "Hida" are his very original landscapes. Takeo Moriyama's raging drums, Yasuo Arakawa's rich bass, Masahiko Sato's spilling piano, and Miyazawa's saxophone, which seems to be a sound block of emotion. Miyazawa's music is a mixture of nostalgia and praise for the land where he was born and raised, as well as longing and awe for Mother Nature. 「木曽」「浅間」「白馬」「飛騨」。原風景に思いを馳せ、心象と情感を丹念に音楽に織り込んでゆく。本作は、宮沢昭が到達したひとつの極みである。1970年、ビクター [日本のジャズ]シリーズの1枚としてリリース。「われわれは日本人なんだから、日本人にしか出来ない奴をつくらなきゃならないと思う」。この時期の宮沢昭の言葉である。宮沢が日本人にしかできない作品をつくろうとしたとき、自身の原点=生まれ育った故郷をモチーフに選ぶのは必然だったろう。長野県の松本市で生まれ、ましてや釣りに親しんだ宮沢にとって「木曽」「浅間」「白馬」「飛騨」はまさに原風景である。森山威男の怒涛のドラム、荒川康男の豊潤なベース、佐藤允彦の零れるようなピアノ、そして、情感をそのまま音塊にしたような宮沢のサックス。生まれ育った土地に対する郷愁や賛美、また大自然に対する憧憬や畏敬。宮沢は自身の根源見つめ、思いとイメージを真摯に丹念に音楽に織り込んでゆく。text by 尾川雄介 (UNIVERSOUNDS / DEEP JAZZ REALITY)。
