Saturn Bowling (Movie)

[Machine Translation] The curse left behind by his father rolls into a nightmare. Inherited from his father is an underground bowling alley and a curse of violence. A series of murders targeting young women occur around the brothers, who are polar opposites... A shocking neo-noir that uncovers the demons that lurk in the modern world! French noir writer Patricia Mazzi finally unleashed in Japan! Director Patricia Mazzi pays homage to such master filmmakers as Nicholas Ray, Park Chan-wook, and Nagisa Oshima, while her keen insight brings to light the malice and violence that undermine today's society. Despite controversy over its shocking depiction of violence, the film was nominated for the Golden Lion at the 75th Locarno Film Festival and ranked 6th in the Top 10 films of 2022 by the French film review magazine Cahiers du Cinema, and has received rave reviews from all quarters. This is the fifth feature film by Patricia Mazie, who has established a unique position in the French film industry with her unique point of view and powerful expression, and this is the first time her work has been released nationwide in Japan. The main character, Guillaume, is played by Aryeh Waldarte, who has attracted much attention for her excellent performances in "Girl" and "The Room Without Her". She is a police officer who is frustrated by the conflict with his brother and a series of murders for which he has no clue, and she gives a convincing performance. Following "Paul Sanchez is Back! (Paul Sanchez is Back!), Assir Regiani plays Armand, Guillaume's younger brother, and gives a powerful performance as a man addicted to violence. His performance in this film was highly acclaimed, and he won the Best Supporting Actor Award at the 2023 International Cinefilms Association Awards. Cinematographer Simon Beaufils, who also directed "The Anatomy of a Falling Man," created beautiful, cool-headed images that give the film a sense of gravity. Armand wanders the streets in search of a place to sleep when his estranged half-brother Guillaume shows up to tell him of his father's death. Their father was the owner of Saturn Bowling, a bowling alley, and a hunter who also enjoyed hunting. Guillaume, who works as a police officer, leaves the bowling alley, which he inherited as a legacy, to Armand, who has neither a job nor a house. However, Armand, who harbors anger toward his father for abandoning him out of wedlock, is constantly getting into trouble with the management, which is unmanageable. One day, a series of murders targeting young women occur around the brothers. As Guillaume pursues the case, he enters a spiral of unfathomable violence. Special features include a special feature ( 30 seconds ), a trailer ( 90 seconds ), and a message from director Patricia Mazzi ( 21 seconds ).
