主演は「月9」枠初主演となる松田翔太! 女性にホレっぽいちょっと三枚目な若手医師・瀬崎航太を演じている。ヒロインの看護師・戸神眞子を武井咲、内科医の内村葵を藤原紀香がそれぞれ演じている。ヒロインは毎回違い、旬の女優が続々登場! 加藤あい、篠田麻里子、夏帆、瀧本美織など人気女優とレギュラー陣との競演も見どころ! 演出は、『Dr.コトー』の演出も手がけた中江功氏が担当。 本州、四国、九州に挟まれた内海、瀬戸内海。そこには大小あわせて700ほどの島々があるが、その中の多くは無医島。救急患者が発生しても、そこに頼るべき医師はいない。こうした問題を解決すべく、瀬戸内海では約50年前から離島を巡る診療船「済生丸」が活躍している。病院並みの機能をもった船が医師や看護師たちを乗せて今日も離島を巡っている。船上で共同生活をしながら、瀬戸内海の離島を巡る病院船の医師や看護師たちの物語を訪れる島々にまつわるエピソードとともに描いてゆく・・・。 ――瀬戸内海を巡る診療船"海診丸"にひょんなことから乗り込んだ若手医師・瀬崎航太 (松田翔太)。航太は優秀な医師でありながら、唯一の欠点は女性にホレっぽいところ。島でマドンナに恋をし、マドンナの抱えている医療問題を解決するために彼は奔走する。しかしさまざまな人々を巻き込んだドタバタ劇の果てに彼はマドンナにフラれてしまい、涙を流しながら次の島へ・・・。あっちの島で恋に落ちてはこっちの島で愛に散るが・・・。
