Swr Big Band Plays The Music Of Sammy Nestico: More Than Just Friends

[Machine Translation] Sammy Nestico ( 1924-2021 ) was born in the United States and was a legendary composer and arranger with the Count Basie Orchestra and other groups. His collaboration with the SWR Big Band began in 2004, when Nestico was 80 years old, but it has developed into a true friendship, resulting in the release of five albums, all of which have been best sellers. About two months after Nestico's death at the age of 96, the SWR Big Band recorded a session of selected repertoire from his vast collection of scores as a tribute to him. In addition to Nestico's originals, the album includes many standards such as "The Sound of Music". Guests include Tutu Puwane. This is an album that maximizes the appeal of Nestico's music, which is based on swing, but also includes fusion elements and soul influences, and allows the listener to enjoy the outstanding performance ability of the SWR Big Band.
