Description

A jewel like road movie presented by director Sho Miyake, whose work has drawn attention from film festivals around the world. English subtitles included. Under the strong summer sun by the sea, Natsuo, a man spending time idly on the beach, meets a somewhat shadowy woman named Nagisa. Without saying much, the two wander around the island together. The next day, they meet again on the shore and, as a typhoon approaches, swim in the surging sea while being drenched by the rain. The figures of the two who met by the sea are shown on the screen in a university lecture hall. The film being screened as part of the class was based on Yoshiharu Tsuge's manga "Seaside Scene", with a screenplay written by Lee. After the screening, Lee is asked by a student about the film and replies, "I realized that I have no talent." After the lecture, Lee chats with Professor Uonuma in the hallway. Seeing Lee's gloomy expression, the professor casually suggests, "You should go on a trip to refresh yourself." Soon afterward, news arrives that Professor Uonuma has suddenly passed away. Lee visits the home of the professor's younger brother to pay respects. Confused by the professor's sudden death, Lee is handed the professor's film camera by the brother almost as if it were being forced upon him. After passing through a long tunnel, a vast silver snow covered world spreads out before him. Arriving in the town without any plan and unable to find a place to stay, Lee eventually comes across an old inn. Snow piles up on the roof, and the inn looks as if it might collapse at any moment. The inn is run by the lazy owner Benzo. There is no heating, no proper meals are served, and even the futon must be laid out by the guest. One night, Benzo invites Lee to go see a pond with Nishikigoi and takes him out into the snowy fields at night. Bonus video includes making of footage, stage greeting footage, and trailers. Booklet 16 pages included.
