Description

[Machine Translation] [In the 17th century, the height of the Baroque era, composers in Europe favored the chaconne and passacaglia forms, which were supported by the prevailing moods of the times. Goebel has selected chaconnes by composers from England, France, Germany, Italy, and other countries to highlight Bach's pioneers, creating a fascinating disc that allows the listener to hear the differences in taste and the changes in the form. Recorded November 1995 in Sion (Switzerland), January 1996 in Cologne [Performed by] Musica Antiqua Cologne on original instruments, conducted by Reinhard Goebel
