2008年没後50年を迎えるヴォーン=ウィリアムズの代表作である「タリスの主題による幻想曲」に、その原曲となったタリスの「詩篇」をカップリングし、さらにヴォーン=ウィリアムズの作品を2曲収録。ヴォーン=ウィリアムズの記念年を飾るにふさわしい、感興溢れる演奏。ロバート・スパーノ指揮アトランタ交響楽団は、昨年DGレーベルからリリースされたゴリホフの歌劇「アイナダマール」(涙の泉)の録音を行うなど、現代作品の演奏にも意欲的に取り組んでいる。彼らによるテラークへのヴォーン=ウィリアムズ録音第1弾となった交響曲第1番他を収録したアルバムは2003年グラミー賞を受賞。今作はそれに続く第2弾。 録音：2006年9月25日、10月1日、3日 アトランタ、シンフォニー・ホール。
