Connie released many fine Lps prior to this recording. She has stated she prefers her Lp work over her singles. It wasn't until she released a recording of Italian standards that she went to #2 on the charts in the USA. This is part of Japan's glorious tribute to Connie 50th anniversary and is mastered in 24 bit sound adding depth to these classic songs. Connie is very innocent and youthful in her interpretations of such traditional tunes as "Santa Lucia" among others. She confesses she did not know the language when she recorded this disc (she speaks fluently in the language now), but it is not apparent when listening to her first charting hit album. This recording is of historical significance and should be in every music lover's collection. And why not have it in the best sound possible, courtesy of Japan! Another wondeful release from great country.
