this is a fantastic release of this film that was originally recorded on december 10 1968 almost 51 years ago. this first saw an official release 23 years ago back in 1996 almost 28 years after the film was originally made. there was a few reasons this took 28 years to finally see the light of day but the one main reason this was a scrapped project for almost 3 decades was becouse MICK JAGGER FELT THE WHO PERFORMED FAR BETTER THEN THE STONES during this filming and mick was not happy with the stones live set for this film especially brian jones performance and sadly this would turn out to be about the last time brian played a stones gig prior to his death 6 months later. anyway i feel there is enough rock n roll history out there regarding this infamous show and the only reason i give it 4 stars instead of 5 is becouse there is more rolling stones footage from this day as well as rehersals by THE WHO, JOHN & YOKO as well as some of the others that are still not included here and by now, almost 51 years on there is no reason why that alternative angle footage should not have been used for this release, also you get an early shot of a very young tony iommi with jethro tulls set here as you must know if you have not seen this yet. anyway this is a beautiful deluxe japan edition and it comes with a fantastic booklet for japan only and the shm remastering makes the film look fantastic and the sound on the cds sound better then ever!!!!!!, it would have been something had this originally been released back in 1969 50 YEARS AGO when it was supposed to be but i guess that was not meant to happen. ANYWAY i had to get the superior japan edition of this and i am glad i did.....this is a must for old fans of THE STONES & THE WHO AS WELL AS JOHN LENNON FANS!!!
