Throughout the 11 tracks, Overmono boldly expands its recording methods, incorporating experimental production techniques such as 70s and 80s synthesizers, old train announcement speakers, and even crash cymbals actually baked in an oven. Every choice is imbued with a strong sense of will and physicality, a feeling that is also reflected in the emotional vocals of renowned British poet John Joseph Holt, his friend Kindra, and Rathven of the Paul Institute. Lockup" is the lead single from the album, which premiered as BBC Radio 1's "Hottest Record. Inspired by Simon Reynolds' book Rip It Up and Start Again, the song was the result of Overmono's deep exploration of the impulsive, rule-breaking spirit of the post-punk era, which led to the release of the album's lead single "Lockup" by Birmingham cult band Fast Relief, The result is a work that samples "What A Waste" by the cult Birmingham band Fast Relief. The furiously pounding beat and heart-thumping bassline are enveloped by delicate, beautiful chords.
