The View [w/ DVD, Limited Edition / Day View ver.]

Just like their previous works, INI once again blows my mind with their 7th single THE VIEW. Containing four different but equally strong songs, THE VIEW is simply another masterpiece of the global boys group. The title song, WMDA (Where My Drums At), is a piece which sounds like no other songs INI ever had before. It is haunting, dark but not depressing, a kind of music which leaves a deep impression after you first listen to it. "Where my drums at" chant you can hear all over the song and Hiromu Takatsuka's shout at the last chorus make it an even more memorable tune, a perfect song to kick off this EP. The second track is ONE NIGHT. Just like how the title sounds, listening to this song brings you straight to a dark alley in the middle of the night, with the full moon peeping through the translucent cloud in the sky above. It has a mysterious vibe with a hint of sexiness, along with its stylish bass line and melody. It's a refreshing addition to INI's music, a kind of tune we never heard from them before. Next, we have HI-DE-HO. In contrast with the two previous tracks, HI-DE-HO is brighter, a laid back tune which makes you feel like you're walking down the street on a sunny day. The melody is difficult but playful, with lots of parts that make you want to sing along. One of the member, Hiroto Nishi, is in charge of making the lyrics and as always, he never disappoints. Then we have Drip Drop, the closing track of this EP. Starting with catchy guitar intro, Drip Drop is sweet, youthful, and fun to listen to. Listening to this tune makes you imagine a clear blue sky after the rain. Two members, Hiromu Takatsuka and Fengfan Xu, participated in the making of the lyrics, perfectly depicting a bittersweet kind of love story through their choice of words. Overall, THE VIEW is another brilliant work from INI. The four songs make a great balance as a whole and show us how much INI has grown up since their early days. I'm really looking forward to what kind of music they will deliver to the world after this.
