This set includes 2 discs of the feature: one in B&W, the other in color. The B&W was meant to evoke an old-timey feel to the work; however, i feel the color version wins out due to how it exudes the feel of Harenchi Gakuen and other classic shonen comedies. How to explain this... Go Nagai and Hiroshi Shimizu had a child by Nobuhiko Obayashi. The work is aware of the tropes of the genres it plays with so it plays with gleeful abandon. I would not be surprised if Takashi Miike adored this movie.

A man starts an affair with a single mother and starts to feel like her son has it out for him.. or is it all in his head? The film plays like a Japanese The Innocents where there are two possible interpretations for what happens and it is left to the viewer to decide which is the answer: is the kid really creepy, or is it all the manifestation of the man's own creepy child past?

I don't know what I was expecting going in, but these films turned out to be more engaging than the descriptions make them sound. I'm not a fan of Italian neorealism, so I was skeptical starting out since these have been compared to that film movement; however, there is a warmth to these that I find lacking in the Italian. Shimizu doesn't shy away from bad things happening, he just levies everything better with a rhythm that evokes the yin-yang of childhood happiness and sadness that is ultimately optimistic about life unlike the Italian counterparts. I would consider these to be a historical cornerstone of the modern Slice of Life genre as well as a high-point in it.

Snake in the Eagle's Shadow Picture and Sound quality was quite good considering it's an old movie but Drunken Master was a little disappointing considering it's a newer movie

I couldn't find this tv series in any other place for sale. I was so happy and excited to find this for my collection. It was a great price and arrived in perfect condition. Can't wait to watch it again.

This film is recommended by a good friend. The plot tells the story of an older young man who wanders through a decadent life, only to be exposed to boxing again. Through this experience, he becomes inspired and successfully loses weight, ultimately leading to a better version of himself. The entire film is infused with a relaxed and joyful atmosphere of comedy, and it is recommended that everyone take a look.

Love this edition, the quality is incredible and the package came very quickly (a little over a week after I bought it and I selected the registered airmail shipping) which I didn’t expect and it was very well packaged with bubble wrap and cute green paper.

Yumi Tono's incredible score for the 2024 Taiga Drama Hikaru Kimi E is easily my nomination for best soundtrack of the year. This first volume contains many of the most lyrical and romantic passages Tono composed for the series, and will appeal to anyone looking for classic orchestral music written for film/TV that emphasises seriousness, beauty and heartfelt melodic writing. It's an absolute knockout. The Taiga dramas always have notable scores, and Tono has just exploded with this one. I was lucky to also get the 7-disc special edition through CD Japan. If you can find that, definitely grab it. It's stupendous. If not, then the three standard volumes are still must-haves.

I don't know the "Sukeban Deka" series but this album is simply a wonderful discovery! I have rarely heard such a level of artistic quality. Everything is excellent: the songs, the voices of the young girls (but they are absolutely sublime!), the musicians, the work in the studio, we are faced with incredible perfection. Many people could be inspired by it... To get without delay!

One of the best horror films ever. It is so eerie and spooky. Kurosawa always makes masterpieces, so if you haven't seen Kairo (aka Pulse) you must buy it. His films are unlike any other person's movies. The soundtrack is excellent, and the picture quality on some Japanese DVDs like Kairo is similar to Blu-ray quality. Buy now or regret it for the rest of your life!

Get it now before it is gone. This edition comes with English subtitles. This is one of Ozu's most moving films. As always, there is nobody better. You will not be disappointed if you buy it.
