In this work, he depicts "memory" and "war" in the form of a group drama of people with various pasts and secrets -- such as a mother who reunites with a former lover from whom she was torn apart in World War II, and her son tormented by the memory of "Muriel," a woman he interrogated during his service in the Algerian War. Helene sends a letter to Alphonse, a former lover from whom she was torn apart by World War II. Alphonse then arrives, bringing a woman named Francoise whom he calls his niece. Meanwhile, Helene's son Bernard continues a listless life, unable to get out of his head the memory of torturing a woman named "Muriel" during his service in Algeria. The relationships among the people gathered at Helene's house grow intricately entangled. Includes a work commentary booklet.
