Yang Guifei

This luxurious and gorgeous brush is made inspired by the beauty of Yang Guifei. The exquisite handle symbolizes her red tear which has been said that she shed during her young days. The brush head in white is dazzlingly as beautiful as she was.

Ono no Komachi

Black and white symbolizes the beauty of ONO no Komachi, a matchless Kajin (poet) and extraordinary calligrapher in the Heian Era. The finest goat hair, Saibikoho used on the bristles for a whisper soft and velvety feel, has a scarcity value and rarely used on the makeup brush.

As a frequent visitor to Kyoto on business, Mr Nakano was deeply impressed and inspired by the city's art and cultural treasures.

[Friendship with Hiroto Rakusho]
Hiroto Rakusho, known to represent Japan as a Master artisan of gold and silver leaf art, is indispensable when designing this project. Born in the metal leaf pattern painting industry in Nishijin, Kyoto, he is the one and only metal leaf artist with a unique sense and technique. Yoshiaki Nakano often visited Hiroto Rakusho's atelier in Kyoto, where genuine modernity is alive, and had no doubt that the traditional technique unleashed in front of him creates something far beyond his imagination. As a result, the work of art that embodies their worldviews surprises and repels everyone who sees it.

Yoshiaki Nakano as a makeup artist, pursuing the world of beauty, has no doubt to choose makeup brushes made in Kumano, Hiroshima where he met Yoshiki Uematsu. Entering the world of brushes at the age of 18, Yoshiki Uematsu is one of the best brush craftsmen in Japan who created a reproduction of the Tenpyo brush enshrined in Shosoin at a young age. Feeling something in common with their sensibility as an artist and the idea of creating value for manufacturing, they decided to collaborate and immediately started creating prototypes.

Co-starring metal leaf and brush-in addition to the color of the metal leaf and brush, the pursuit of brush feels and usability, they never compromise with each other. They discussed many times and made prototypes to create the perfect product. The gorgeous yet novel and different expression design released from Hiroto Rakusho's metal leaf technique is bewitching but somehow fragile. The 100 limited editions produced one by one are all different designs and no two brushes are the same. Each brush has a different appearance and its story begins the moment you pick it up.
